Davido reveals Rick Ross and Meek Mill collaboration


Award-winning Nigerian artist Davido has revealed exclusively to The New Age that he will be collaborating with US hip hop stars Rick Ross and Meek Mill soon.

The rapper was recently in the country for Mandela Day celebrations at the MTN head offices, where he joined Mafikizolo on stage to perform their campaign song, Tchelete.

“Winning two Mamas and now a BET award inspires not just me but many people as well and no matter how hard it is, you have to do what you have to do. Winning the BET award means that many more people know who I am now. I got to meet many international superstars and I will be doing a few international collaborations.

Pressed to drop a name or two, the husky voiced artist was initially hesitant before adding: “For now I cannot reveal much, but I can definitely tell you that Rick Ross and Meek Mill are on the cards for collaborations.”

Davido was born David Adedeji Adeleke in Atlanta Georgia and came to Nigeria at a very young age. He shot to continental fame in 2011 with the release of his first big commercial single, Dami Duro.

He has produced for Naeto C and Tiwa Savage. He has won a Channel O award, a Kora award, Two MTV Africa Awards, four Nigerian Entertainment Awards and most recently a BET award for best International Act Africa.

His debut album, Omo Baba Olowo, was released in 2012, His star was propelled to dizzy heights with the release of singles Dami Duro and later Skelewu.

He recently collaborated with Mafikizolo on their third single, Tchelete. His album, which will include the aforementioned collaborations is due out soon.
