Lil Wayne is heading to court after attempts to settle his feud with Birdman fell apart. According to TMZ, the rapper is seeking at least $8 million over an unpaid advance of his new album "Tha Carter V" which keeps getting delayed at Young Money/Cash Money.
Once a YMCM darling, Weezy no longer wants to stay at the label. He revealed in late 2014 his desire to find a new home for his music. "I am a prisoner and so is my creativity Again, I am truly sorry and I don't blame ya if ya fed up with waiting 4 me & this album. But thk u," he tweeted. Birdman later promised to release the fifth installment of "Tha Carter" album "in due time," but Weezy didn't seem to buy it.
Weezy is not the only artist who is upset with the label. Tyga joins the disgruntled party as he once wrote on Twitter, "Gold album been done. My label holding me hostage so I can't release nothing. Might just leak it for my fans then let them make $ off it."
Mack Maine currently serves as a president of Young Money, an imprint of Cash Money co-founded by Birdman. Weezy previously headed the label, but he stepped down to focus on his music. He was replaced by his manager Cortez Bryant before Maine took over the position. The label is now home to rappers like Drake and Nicki Minaj.
