Beyoncé and Jay Z Surprise Troops with ‘On the Run’ Screening

Beyoncé and Jay Z helped make the holidays a little brighter for the troops. The superstar couple treated the military men and women serving in Kuwait and Afghanistan to a New Year’s Eve screening of their “On the Run” HBO special.

The concert aired following a videotaped message from Queen Bey herself.
“I just want to say a big thank you to all of our troops for everything you do to keep our country safe,” she said. “We all sleep better at night knowing that you guys are protecting us, and we’re filled with gratitude.”
She continued, “So we wanted to do something special for you guys. We teamed up with our friends at the USO to do a private screening just for you guys of the ‘On the Run Tour.'”
The screening helped lift the spirits of the troops. “Watching the ‘On the Run’ concert made me forget I was in Afghanistan for the holidays…. thank you,” said SSGT Ferguson, who is stationed at Bagram Airfield.
